Leading northwest law firm, Pearson Hinchliffe Commercial Law, has advised Lanes Group Plc on the acquisition of drainage firm Drain Devils (Grampian) Limited to strengthen and expand Lanes for Drains, the UK’s largest independent drainage specialist.
The purchase is the latest of several deals overseen by Company & Commercial team partner Roger Hinchliffe for Lanes for Drains. He commented, “We were introduced to this transaction from the early stages through our original role advising the Group on the acquisitions of Total Drainage Solutions (Bedfordshire), Clean A Drain (Surrey) and The Bee Clear Group (Devon) in the middle 2008.
“Pearson Hinchliffe’s strong working relationship of over 15 years with Lanes Group ensured we understood its objectives. This is a great strategic acquisition for Lanes Group’s ever growing drainage business and our team’s knowledge of the sector, coupled with our mid-market expertise, made us the ideal choice for this instruction.”
Roger added, “With our specialist expertise in mergers and acquisitions we look forward to continuing to advise our long term client on their plans to expand and achieve niche specialisms in this interesting sector.”
Thanks to its historical association with Aberdeenshire, the target firm brings specialisms in cleaning and other services for the marine industry to the Group; and fits well with the Lanes Group’s strategy to increase its Scottish presence. The Aberdeen-based company now becomes the Grampian branch of Lanes for Drains and brings the number of depots to 20.
