ACAS Annual Report 2008/09 published

The Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS) has published its annual report for 2008/09.
Key points include:
- 6th April 2009 saw the roll-out of new Acas Code of Practice
- 78,670 cases for conciliation received from the Employment Tribunal, a rise of 18 per cent
- recession fuels 22% rise in unfair dismissal conciliation cases, as 55,000 cases are received
- other types of complaint referred by employment tribunals also increased
- demand for redundancy advice soars by almost three quarters
- a huge increase in the popularity of its training courses on redundancy and restructuring.
