The revaluation of business rates is conducted by the Valuation Office Agency (VOA) every five years. The last one was 1st April 2005 and the next revaluation will take effect from 1 April 2010. The VOA is responsible for valuing all business and non-domestic property in England and Wales for business rates.
Details of new rating assessments for England and Wales were published on 30 September on the VOA website and during October the VOA sent out details of the new rateable values to each property. This is to give individuals the chance to check their details before local authorities calculate and issue rates bills in early 2010.
