Putting lawyers in touch with the youth of Oldham
Pearson Hinchliffe partner, Michael Pitt, takes over as 2012 Oldham Law Association President.
MorePearson Hinchliffe Solicitor’s John Pollitt and Richard Eastwood are to run the 2008 New York City Marathon.
The firm's Clinical Negligence partner and Independent Financial Adviser will don their running shoes and hit the streets of the Big Apple as they take part in the event on November 2nd.
The pair are running to raise funds for Get Kids Going, a national charity that provides special equipment to help disabled children take part in sports.
A keen supporter of his local church and various charities, John, who will be running his third marathon, has no doubt they are both in for a gruelling but rewarding experience:
“It will be a test of physical and mental strength but the New York crowds and inspirational landmarks are sure to help spur us on to the finishing line in Central Park. But the main thing that is important to me is helping a good cause.”
He quipped, “In my first marathon at 25 years of age I went round in five hours. Last year aged 50 I took four hours. Friends have told me that at this rate I’ll be breaking the 3 hour mark when I’m 75!”
Father of four Richard Eastwood runs his first marathon and is currently undergoing a demanding training regime. He commented:
“I started on the treadmill and quickly realised that if you can run five miles you can run ten, and if you can run ten then twenty-six miles is possible too! Plus, Get Kids Going does such fabulous work with young disabled people that I’m sure I’ll have all the motivation I need.”
The partners of Pearson Hinchliffe have also pledged £500 to kick start John and Richard’s efforts, while staff at the firm have organised fundraising activities to help them achieve their £6,000 target.
As well as a fundraising dinner to be held at the renowned White Hart restaurant in Oldham on September 19th, John and Richard will gladly accept donations at www.justgiving.com/johnpollitt1 or www.justgiving.com/richardeastwood
