The Equality Act 2010 comes into force today
1st October 2010
The vast majority of the Equality Act 2010 comes into force today, 01 October 2010. The Act brings together the previous discrimination law in Great Britain, most of which will be repealed on this date.
The previous, pre-October 2010 discrimination law, contained in the Sex Discrimination Act 1975, Race Relations Act 1976, Disability Discrimination Act 1995 and so on, continues to be relevant to many claims progressing through the tribunal system.
